As of October 2018 Barbara van Hussen is a corporate partner at JanssenBroekhuysen Lawyers. She was a partner at DLA Piper, the largest international law firm in the world, from 2002 through 2017. She began her law career in 1996 under Ferdinand Grapperhaus at what was then known as Schut & Grosheide. When she moved to the corporate M&A practice in 1997, she discovered that she had a talent for successfully concluding transactions and turnarounds.
Barbara grew to become one of the most well-known M&A lawyers in the Netherlands. She has advised high-profile companies involved in strategic transactions and complex divestments, along with founders and family businesses in connection with one-off exits. In addition to her work as a lawyer, Barbara held various administrative positions within DLA Piper. For example, she was Managing Partner at the Amsterdam offices and was a member of DLA Piper’s Executive Board. In the latter position, she was responsible for the 35 offices in Europe and the Middle East. From January till September 2018 Barbara had her own law practise.
